The First Annual Horse Expo this past weekend (January 16 and 17) at the U of A Farms was a great success! At HEART’s booth, not only did we see old friends, we made all kinds of new friends as well. We also got some new HEART members as well.
Michael Blake, author of ‘Dances with Wolves’ was there signing books, as well as Ginger Kathrens, award winning producer of the ‘Cloud’ documentaries, author and founder of the Cloud Foundation.
The 2 day event featured the best of Southern Arizona’s horse trainers and clinicians, teaching and demonstrating from starting to finishing western & english disciplines.
There was food, art, and horse product booths from national and local business’.
Clay Harper and his wife Jacquie did a great job organizing everything. The event went very smoothly, and raised awareness about the wild mustangs and horse rescue. Thank you Clay and Jacquie!
We are looking forward to next year’s Expo, which is tentatively scheduled to be held at Pima County Fairgrounds.

Hi everyone, Don’t forget the First Annual Horse Expo will be this weekend at the U of A Farms. Saturday the 16th and the 17th from 9 to 5. You can get tickets at the Boot Barn. We hope to see you all there.
Milly had her visit with the Dr. Ann today and x-rays of her leg. Her teeth were floated and her mouth looks very good. Her leg on the other hand will be a lot of work. After she was able to look at the x-rays today she wants to do a couple more of her foot to see where the coffin bone is sitting. We will come up with a plan for her after more are done so that we know exactly what we can do for her. Right now it is getting her weight back on her. She looks so much better now with only 2 weeks here. Her eyes are very bright and she looks forward to everyone coming to her stall to pet her and give her a carrot. She is so friendly with everyone, including the other horses. Today the Vet was totally blown away by how calm she was through everything even her shots. She was a perfect angel. I really believe that when they come in here they know they are in a good place and no one will ever hurt them here, but instead make their lives so much better. Horses are a very forgiving animal and a grateful animal as well.
