Today, HEART of Tucson has completed the move of its Adoption Center facility from Foothills Equestrian Center to Pantano Stables. As many of you know, Foothills had donated a barn to us and now is in need of that barn for its clients. We are so thankful for the opportunity afforded to us by Foothills and so our move to Pantano is somewhat bittersweet. Congratulations to Foothills on their success and we thank them for their friendship and support.

As we look to our future and begin to settle into our new home at Pantano, we are excited at the prospect of a new beginning and we see much opportunity and possibility in our future. We have met so many wonderful people and look forward to turning our new acquaintances into deep friendships.

As an Arizona non-profit organization, HEART of Tucson relies solely on charitable donations. The move for us is costly and we are in need of panels and pipe and as always, your time to volunteer with building projects, horse care and behind the scenes administrative assistance. We are always in need of assistance with community service projects, community awareness projects and fundraising projects.

Thank you so much for all your continued support of HEART of Tucson and the work we do in equine rescue, rehabilitation, foster and adoption services to these magnificent animals.

Hero came to HEART about 3 months ago from Turf Paradise having raced 9 times, finishing dead last on his final two races. As a result his knee was x-rayed, showing he had fragments of bone in his knee. Because of this it was either a rescue or slaughter, and of course HEART chose to rescue him!

Special thanks to Cass Dewey for being the catalyst to save this guy (along with many others) – the racing industry needs more people like her!

He will need surgery to get the fragments out of his knee, after which he can go on to be a wonderful trail horse and have a great life. He is very friendly, and loves everyone that comes to see him. A just turned 4 year old thoroughbred gelding with the sweetest personality, he has a lot of potential once he’s sound!

Please help us raise the funds for his surgery and give Hero a chance at a wonderful future!

Visit Surgery for Hero to make a donation, see more photos and get updates on Hero’s progress!

We brought in 4 with the Marana group, and we have two done. Two more to go with them, and we are also gelding all the babies that came in with their mothers from the kill pen. After seeing how expensive it has gotten to geld anymore, I have realized how this can be an expense that people that can barely feed there horses might decide to put off. This is so important to have done while there young, and before they can breed. I would like to get a gelding fund started so that we can go in and help those that need it. If we can help stop the back yard breeding we are making progress. We need help with funds to do our own rescues, and with out your help we couldn’t do this, so amagin those people that have no help at all. I am very open to your thoughts on this subject so please jump in and tell me what you think.

Thank you so much for your support

The state told us they were going to auction off the horses we rescued from being abandoned and starved this weekend. We were sickened at how they could take these guys that need medical, and food, and sell them to the highest bidder. That could mean killers that would send them to Mexico for slaughter. They were abandoned, and starved. They didn’t cause harm to anyone, and they did nothing wrong. Today we fought it, and won the right for the horses to stay here with HEART and get food, and medical treatment so that they can forward out into new homes where they are wanted and finally loved. Horses at least should have the same rights as other animals. We have opened a door now that has never been opened before for this beautiful animal. Lets please keep going. If you can help the Marana 16 please donate, we have to show that the public does really care about horses and they deserve a chance. We have to show the state. This baby from there did not die in vein. He save 18 more from his herd. We have to believe in that.
