Well we have had Dante and Curtis for 2 months now, and are keeping both of them busy! Dante is getting worked regularly and is getting MUSCLES!! I didn't think he would develop his neck muscles he had been so starved before coming to HEART, but slowly but surely, they are popping up!! He looks great! And he went to a dressage schooling show just to visit, not to be ridden or show, just to see what he thought of things, and did GREAT! I am still sticking to walk/trot in the round pen for now as we get used to each other; he has been ridden in our arena and out on the trail by a trainer. He is such a sweet horse.
Curtis is enjoying getting all the attention that Joey can give him, he will stand still for cross tying (!) which he didn't know how to do, and will stand still better for mounting and has quit being a little bitey about having his saddle put on. I think he's getting more and more used to us, and Joey certainly enjoys him. He had been riding in our round pen but recently started riding out in the big arena, and Curtis threw in a few little bucks the other day! Joey's eyes got really big but he stayed on and thought it was fun!
So it is fun to see how these guys are getting used to us and their new jobs!! We love them both!

I came to the open house yesterday with my 2 granddaughters Hayley and Breanna ages 7 and 8. We had a wonderful time and thanks to Patrick and his wife had a delicious lunch. Such a beautiful ranch and so many beautiful horses, wish we could adopt them all. Our favorite was Asher, the gentle giant. Thank you again.

You gave up your horse. That had to be super hard for you-you've lost a few horses recently. It is good that he is going to a good home that will work him the way you would have. It is nice he can have Curtis with him too. Curtis is a perfect horse for a kid-he is wonderful and sweet. He'll teach the boy the great joy of having a horse buddy. It is a way to teach the next generation how to care for horses.

Hey just letting you know, Curtis and Dante are settling in fine at our house. Dante wants me to constantly scratch his behind--it is an odd little habit that someone taught him somewhere (hah!) from all that spoiling at Heart!!
Curtis is a little weirded out by our gaggle of goats, but he's getting used to them!

Thank you Liz, it was a lot of fun. I could see that you all were getting a lot of information in a short amount of time. If you ever have any questions, and we have the answers we are very happy to share them with you. It was wonderful to meet you, and I can't wait to see you again.

Just wanted to let you know that the "First Time Horse Ownership Seminar" made a great impact on me yesterday! I learned more in those 4-5 hours then I have in my lifetime about these wonderful animals! Your passion for rescuing these horses shines brightly! I look forward to learning much more and being of what help I can volunteering with your organization.
Deeply moved- Liz. Hunt
