Dyna King, aka Gifted, is another tragic story coming to us from the Southern area of Tucson, in Sahuarita. HEART of Tucson was called on this horse because they knew if he were to have a chance at life it would be with us. We were first under the impression that he was in his twenties, could barely stand and was near death. We were told that if we didn't take him or couldn't take him, he was going to be euthanized. We asked them to hold him for a few more days while we made room for him. Our stalls were all full and arrangements for another foster had to be made. When Judy's husband, Mark, went to investigate he fell in love with this dear, sweet horse. When he arrived on December 12th, he stood 16.1 hands, but a mere 870 pounds of skin and bones. His hooves, abcessed and untrimmed in years, could barely hold this poor animal up. He had such trust and desire to live that we named him "Gifted". We ran his tattoo and two days later discovered that he was none other than Dyna King, son of Dynaformer and half brother to Barbaro.
In just a short period of time we are seeing a new horse slowly emerge. With proper vetting, farrier and horse care, Dyna King is beginning to stand for longer periods of time. He's socializing more and even playing with a horse treat hanging in his stall.
He will need long-term care to bring him back to a healthy weight and correct the hooves that have been neglected for so long.
